Faculty VII - Institute of Technology and Management / Logistics

Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

under the reserve that funds are granted
part-time employment may be possible

For more than 35 years, the Chair of Logistics at TU Berlin stands for excellence in research, education and training. An important cornerstone of the activities of the Chair of Logistics is the Competence Center for International Logistics Networks (ILNET), which has been funded by the Kuehne Foundation since 2005. At ILNET, a team of researchers, together with university partners from sub-Saharan Africa, investigate current trends and strategies in international logistics networks, risk and volatility management as well as logistical challenges and solutions in sub-Saharan Africa in order to promote responsible globalization. In the coming years, ILNET intends to continue to make an important contribution to logistics research and to strengthen the role of logistics in international value creation systems. For this reason, research will focus on examining the resilience of international logistics networks in the context of climate change, especially since countries in the Global South are already exposed to increasing negative effects of climate change. At the same time, companies are beginning to raise their concerns on the medium and long-term resilience of their logistics networks and their ability to withstand climate change related disruptions. As a result, the research at ILNET aims to improve the resilience of supply chains in the context of climate change, in particular by developing a measurement tool to assess the vulnerability of logistics networks to climate risks. Moreover, ILNET works closely with the Kühne Foundation and the Kühne Climate Center to contribute to their activities while consolidating content, structures, formats and collaborations that have been created and ensure their long-term existence.
Following an integrative, practice-oriented research approach, ILNET regularly publishes results in scientific and practice-oriented journals and magazines. Additionally, the ILNET has developed the online, freely available logistics planning tool TUB Logistics Navigator, which enables logistics managers to visualize and plan international logistics networks in a co-creation approach together with network partners (e.g. suppliers and customers). In addition, the tool represents a knowledge management platform that facilitates external access to the extensive research results of the Chair of Logistics in the field of international logistics.
