Tasks

  • Support project partners in the development of concepts and pre-feasibility studies for transformational sustainable energy projects in support of the project’s scale-up activities.
  • Support partners in the development of policy roadmaps to provide policy guidance to project countries and beyond on how policies can be refined to create an enabling framework at national and local levels.
  • Support partners in the development of project proposals to facilitate funding, financing and procurement of replicable renewable energy solutions in the project countries and other selected African countries.
  • Support the quality control and impact assessment activities of the project by contributing to the assessment of the direct impacts and long-term potentials of the energy innovations tested, based on the tools and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) developed by the project.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities with project partners including the need for capacity building and training activities as well as data collection, processing, analysis and reporting.
  • Support ethics monitoring and risk management activities in the project ensuring adherence of the project to ethical aspects and strategies as well risk mitigation measures identified and reporting on same.
  • Support the Intellectual Property (IP) management activities of the project ensuring that appropriate IP strategies and measures are devised for the protection of the project’s products and services developed.
  • Support the project’s dissemination and communication activities including writing and publication of academic and non-academic papers.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in urban and regional planning, economics, urban design, geography, energy economics, renewable energy or related disciplines.
  • Interdisciplinary research and project experience, preferably in the fields of renewable energy and/or urban and regional development.
  • Knowledge of analysis and derivation of economic indicators (CAPEX, OPEX, financial flow analysis).
  • Knowledge of methods and theory in the relevant fields of renewable energy development, international urban and regional research.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; very good knowledge of German.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, or suitable alternatives.

Desirable:

  • Experience and excellent skills in writing and editing academic and non-academic texts in English.
  • High level understanding of energy markets and associated policy fields.
  • Knowledge of GIS software (QGIS) is an asset.
