Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Tasks

As part of a research project (VIRUMEX) funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) focussing on the transport and risk assessment of pathogens during bank filtration, we are looking for a person with experience in biogeochemical modeling at field scale. In addition to numerical analyses modeling work, experimental work in the field is also planned. The planned work will be carried out in close cooperation with partners from the Environmental Research Center Leipzig (UFZ) and water works, e.g. Berliner Wasserbetriebe, and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA). A cost-neutral extension of the project until spring 2026 is being sought.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed academic university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in geosciences (focus on hydrogeology), geoecology, environmental sciences
  • Experience in the field of biogeochemical modeling in soil and/or groundwater
  • Willingness to work in the field (sampling, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.
